Information Management Open Source Initiatives (IMOSI) is an initiative that focusing towards the information systems analysis, design and development using open source software. IMOSI was established on Monday, November 10, 2008 by a group of IS221 researchers (lecturers & students) whom are aware of the importance of information technology approaches to create, acquisite, manage, profile, distribute, publish, repackage, and commercialize the data, information and knowledge using free information technology tools and open source.

This initiative involves the process of understanding and specifying in detail on what the information system should accomplish and the process of specifying in detail how the many components of the information system should be physically applied and implemented. This initiative will lead to the development of prototypes and information systems which has a collection of interrelated components that collect, process, store, and provide as output the information needed to complete a business task.

To begin the first IMOSI initiative on OS project we are looking forward to participate in the 6th IID 2009 (Invention, Innovation, Design) "From Research And Innovation To Wealth" which will be held from 13 – 15 Jan 2009.
